LESSER KNOWN PROJECTS

RITUAL MESS
2009? - Present
When James was visiting from Australia we dreamed up the idea of a 90's era Gravity records style band. We recorded what will be a three song 7" on Clean Plate after a couple of days of writing and re-writing. Jay recorded vocals about a year later in his apartment in Brooklyn. There is now an LP in the works.

COMPLAINTS
2007
A project band spawned out of creating one song just for kicks and liking it. We recorded three songs that came out as a 7" on Youth Attack. It's possible that at some point there will be a second release, but I wouldn't hold your breath.
Daniel Madden - Drums / Backup Vocals
Will - Everything Else

WITCHDOCTOR
2006?
This was temporarily a real band, perhaps sometime in 2004, but never made it past this song, why I'm not sure. This is a slightly spruced up practice recording.

PSALMANAZAR
2003
This was a recording project of a friend of mine. This song was released on a compilation CD. We made some other songs together which I'm not sure I have copies of. We also formed a band playing similar music called The Capital Abandoned, which I don't seem to have any remaining practice recordings of. I played drums on this recording, Ben did everything else except maybe a couple bass parts as far as I can remember.

PUKER
2003
This band was done to complete the dream of the Cumpunx/Puker split which was an idea before either band had written a single riff, as silly as that sounds.

CUMPUNX
2003
Another project band, everything done in two days. This was released as a split 7" with Puker. This record is pretty ridiculous and different from everything else I've ever done, and clearly the name is supposed to be stupid and offensive, but I also find it extremely enjoyable to listen to still.

TORRINGTON
2002
A project band, we wrote and recorded a 7" in two days. There is an LP in the works with 14 songs recorded, but who knows if it will ever see completion.

PROGZILLA
2003?
A two day project formed when my buddy Tom was in town and we had no real plans and thus set out to write a prog rock, or math rock, or something, song. I've always liked this song and wish we did more. We never had a band name, this was simply an affectionate nickname we gave the project that stuck.

STOP THE CLOCK
2002?
A project born of boredom and hanging out with a couple friends from New Hampshire. While the musical attempt at some sort of kind of thrashy and kind of crusty hardcore was not very good, it did introduce us all to Meghan's vocals, and the fact that they were awesome.

KOLLMORGEN
1999 - 2000
This was a solo project based around some ideas I had that was also incorporated into my Div. III at Hampshire College in 2000. I wrote a bunch of songs and then performed them in multiple settings, also recording the ambiance, with the idea that every performance of a musical event is unique and that the idea of a single version of a song existing as a recording is both a somewhat strange and recent concept in terms of the history of music. I also recorded an EP afterwards at the end of 2000, based on similar musical ideas, but experimenting with different instruments, computers, loops, etc. In the end I don't think it's as successful as the first album. These were only ever given to friends and family, probably 10 made of each.

AIR WAVE RECEIVER
1999
A very short-lived band that basically existed the summer of 1999. We played one show with Karate at Hampshire College. Somewhere I have a 4 track tape with more songs, but this is the only one I have a mix of, I believe it was the last of our four songs that we wrote.

THE GUTS
1999-2000
This band existed during the 1999-2000 school year and played about 5-7 shows, all in Western Mass. There was talk of doing a 7" which I wish we had done. We never properly recorded, but this was a practice recording we made for ourselves, and it's all I have. This is all of our songs.

ARCANA
1999-2000
This band also lasted for about a year during a similar time frame of The Guts I think. I don't think we ever released this as an actual demo, although it was recorded with that in mind I think. We played a handful of shows, one in Connecticut, the rest in Massachusetts, and broke up. There was also an earlier version of this band called Where The Sea Breaks Its Back.
